Gypsy music and good food

After a day like this a nice restaurant is a real treat. Tonight we went to Pesti Lampas, a very chique place in the center of Budapest where they have real waiters and life gypsy music. I watched Philip come to live as he recognized almost every song the band played, whereas Pieter's hands were aching because he would have loved to have played the guitar himself. He should have asked!

The food served in this restaurant was very good, no-one could be heard complaining. It was not the only warm meal today, because this morning we ate in the little restaurant of the school (bufe as they call it). The little bar has all sorts of sandwiches but also enormous chocolate cakes and other sorts of pies however we ate a healthy soup and kind of pancake'balls' with chocolate inside. That sure kept everybody going until the end of the debate!

Yesterday we also had a very special dinner-experience. We ate in a restaurant that served traditional Hungarian food. A nice soup, lots of meat (no problem for some boys) and the traditional coleslaw. The way the restaurant looked dated back to the communist period according to the teachers. So now in two days we have enjoyed traditional, school and fancy meals. In Holland we say 'love goes through the stomach' which means that a good meal makes you love somebody. The conclusion: We love Hungary!
